How do guest ratings work?

The people who went are asked how it was. From 5 ratings the average shows under the organiser's name, good or bad. Who is asked, when, and what stays private.

The short answer

The morning after an event ends, from 9am where it ran, everyone who held a ticket is emailed once to ask how it was. The same question is on their ticket page for 30 days, and My tickets asks about the latest event they went to in the last two weeks. One tap on a star opens it with that rating chosen.

A rating is 1 to 5 stars, a few words picked from a short list, like well organised or started late, and an optional note. The note is for the organiser alone and never says who wrote it. One rating per person per event, and only from a ticket that was booked: not the organiser, not their team, and not seats sold at the box office.

Once an organiser has 5 ratings, the average shows under their name on every event page, good or bad, with the words guests chose most. When at least 3 guests, and a fifth of all ratings, name the same problem, that shows too: Often mentioned: started late. From 10 ratings, an average under 4 stars takes away the verified tick.

There is also a button for an event that did not go ahead. When three ticket holders press it, One Ticket support follows it up, the organiser's tick goes, and that event's ticket money is held until it is sorted out.

Organisers can turn the email off in Settings, under Notifications. The ticket page still asks.

Which fits your event?

Start from the one requirement that decides it.

Your main requirementStart with
You went, and it was goodStars and a few words from your ticket, on One Ticket
You went, and something was offStars and a private note the organiser alone reads, on One Ticket
It did not go aheadSay so from your ticket; three people saying it goes to support
You are the organiserRead every rating and note on the event's report

A rating is from somebody who held a ticket to that event. Nobody else can leave one.

How it works in practice

Ratings are shown as they are, good or bad. Nobody can remove the ones they do not like.

One Ticket for a recurring room

Everything below follows from one decision: a series is one object, not a list of dates.

FeatureWhat it does
Who came backAfter every session: how many came, how many had been before, who is new and who has stopped coming, by name, with an address to write to
SubscriptionsOne subscription covers every session in a series. Each night's ticket is minted ahead of time
Paid outEvery ticket is charged to your own Stripe account. A new account is paid out to your bank two days after each event, once guests have said how it went; after a first clean event it is paid out as it sells
FeesNo platform fee on the ticket price. The buyer pays a booking fee: a platform tier of 35c to $1.45 a ticket, then 1.5% of the price above $100, plus card processing. On a $25 ticket that is $1.45 all in, so the buyer pays $26.45. Free tickets cost nothing
Refund if it changesMove the date, start time or place after people have booked and every one of them can refund in full, booking fee included, until it starts, whatever your refund policy says. You are warned before you save, and everyone booked is emailed the new details
Refund requestsOn a case-by-case event the buyer asks from their ticket. You have 3 days to refund or decline; a request nobody answers goes to One Ticket support, and your payouts are held until it is settled
Guest ratingsAfter each event, ticket holders rate it: stars and a few words. From 5 ratings the average shows under your name on every event page, good or bad. Notes are for you alone, and never say who wrote them
Scam protectionEvery page is read before it can send an email, and our emails carry none of an organiser's own links or phone numbers. A new organiser's money is held until after the event, and anyone can report an event from its page
Verified tickEarned by selling here: 3 past events, 25 tickets, no chargebacks, no ignored refund requests, and an average of 4 stars once there are 10 ratings. A chargeback or an ignored request takes it away at once
Block a personBlock an address from a ticket type, for this event or every one after it. No public list, no conversation at the door
Your pageYour colours, your title font, your cover. Nobody else's event on it
ImportPaste an Eventbrite link and the title, description, date, venue and ticket types come across
Not includedA marketplace. There is no search page and no audience to sell into; the people are the ones you bring

Common questions

Can the organiser see who rated them?
They see the stars, the words and the notes, but never who wrote them.
Can an organiser rate their own event?
No. The organiser and their team cannot rate their own events.
When does the rating show publicly?
Once an organiser has 5 ratings, the average shows under their name on every event page.
How long can I rate an event for?
Thirty days from when it ends, from your ticket page.
What if the event did not go ahead?
Say so from your ticket. When three ticket holders do, One Ticket support follows it up and that event's money is held until it is settled.
Can I stop the rating email for my events?
Yes. Settings, Notifications, Ask my guests how it was. The ticket page still asks.
